My buddy and i went to kapowsin yesterday and caught practically nothing, it was terrible...but it was our first time fishing kapowsin and had absolutely no idea what kind of baits and/or lures to use...i tried soft plastics, worms and senkos, caught a couple rockbass and thats it. Also tried a couple cranks and rattle trap with no luck, top water frog with no bites. Next time i go i need to be a little more prepared. So could u give me a bit of advice? what are the best kinds of lures to use on this lake? what locations and methods seem to produce the most fish? and also, i went there yesterday hoping for Largemouth and crappie, it is one of my summer goals to catch a crappie since i have never in my life caught one before...so id like to know where the crappie hangout and how to catch them. Thanks to whoever replies, ur advice is much appreciated!

I am Crappiless as well. I tried a bit, yesterday, when I was out there, no luck. I did catch four LMB, but nothing big, lost a 3 pounder. When I got to the launch, a guy on the dock with two little kids told me that they had caught 3 Crappie right there, but they threw them back, so I never got to see. I may be wrong, but I think that they target the Crappie in close to shore and in the coves, out of the wind and where the water would be, possibly, a little warmer.

I caught all of my bass on a 7" Power worm in blue fleck, BUT, these were the first bass that I have ever caught in Kapowsin on plastics. I have had luck with spinnerbaits and just plain old spinners, like a roostertail with white skirt. Last time that I fished there, I went straight across from dock on the west side of the big island, and caught 9 with that spinner. That was like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Have not been back until yesterday, but going to go again this week, maybe tomorrow.

Yesterday, I went to the right from the boat ramp and fished nearly that entire side and then back on the opposite side. I spend time fishing stumps and stuff out in the lake, and pilings, but always catch them close to shore, probably why I always catch the smaller ones. I would like to figure out how to fish the deeper structure. I would think that bass have to be there, but I have not lucked into one, yet.

Not no expert, so I am going to watch this thread to see if anyone else chimes in. Good Luck!

I would recommend going on youtube and searching for any IN-Fisherman videos on crappy. There is way more info than we can post on here.
