Headed down to the North end of Palmer to do some laid back dock fishing. My buddy Randy spotted me down there and showed up too. Then The Chad came down. I nailed a smallmouth right away with my new Shad Rap (Burnt orange top, yellow bottom), small guy, only a pound I guess. But I was getting weeds with almost every cast, got annoying. Switched to Gulp Power Bait trout nuggets, rainbow in color with a weight 2 feet from the hook. Used two nuggets at once, molded them together into a ballish shape on a #6 hook. Bam! The rainbows just started pounding the hook left and right. A few times, I casted the bait out, went to set the rod down, and the fish started hitting before my hand was off the rod. The rainbows were 12-16" and the action was consistant, almost went thru half my jar of trout nuggets. Actually, since I wanted to chill, I switched back to casting because the action was so busy on the nuggets. Used a rainbow colored popper lure, trying for bass again. Not much action from it, but I did catch a 10" Rainbow....go figure....on a bass lure.

Randy was casting in the beginning, and getting no action on smallish spinner baits. I let him use a texas rigged Power Bait worm, watermelon. After about 20 mins or so, just light reeling, Randy landed a lunker Largemouth Bass pretty close to the dock! A good 6 pounder!

The Chad didn't get much action, but he was catching an earful from the old lady, who originally said she was only going to sit there and read and watch us catch fish. LOL I think she only read 2-3 pages in 90 minutes.

Good times!

I have a question, did you happen to catch a fish with a dark colored stripe running along it's sides? If you did, could you tell me what type of fish it was, if not, do you have any ideas?

That would be a largemouth bass. Caught a few 2-3lbs largemouth so far this year in P-Lake. None in a while though...just smaller ones. Hopefully people are practicing catch and release rather than killing off the few big fish in that lake.
