Largemouth Bass

I headed out to Waughop at about 1 pm in the afternoon.
I got to the lake and start walking along the shore looking for beds.

I began using a 2/0 hook wacky rigged with a 6 inch pumpkin pepper roboworm.
I made a few casts out by the logs and weed edges with no luck.

I then moved along and made a few more casts towards some beds that I saw.
A few bass came to investigate but didn't really show much interest at all in my roboworm.

I moved along to another spot and decided to switch to a 5 inch pumpkin pepper senko that I had texas rigged.

Very first cast and a female hit it but didn't take it.
Two more casts, two more hits, but she didn't take it.

Since she wasn't taking it in all the way, I figured I'd have a better chance hooking her with my senko being wacky rigged.

So I switched up the rig and first cast out she slammed it and I set the hook!
I had never really caught big bass before so when I set the hook pretty hard I was surprised when my pole just stopped in place.
That's when I new I had a pretty big fish on.

Although I was only casted out maybe 10 - 15 feet, she put up a pretty decent fight.
My adrenaline was really pumping and as I was screaming OMG!!! A few people came to investigate.

She measured at 17 3/4 inch and registered on my scale a little over 3 lbs.
However I don't trust the cheap scale I have.
There was a local there who picked up the fish and he told me she was probably pushin a little over 3.

So I asked the guy snap a pic for me and snapped a pic with my phone and let her go.

I know immediately some people will probably say a 3 lber is nothi
But to me, it's the biggest largemouth that I have caught so far so she's huge to me.

I have never really actively pursued big largemouth, so this is just the start!

I have never liked waughop. I have fished there many times with millions of different lures. And i am noticing that people are catching awesome bass in the same spots i fished in that lake. I have yet to catch my first bass still, but i am still trying. Hopefuly this memorial day weekend i can do a little more fishing, and finally get a bass.
