OK, OK, I acknowledge that fact that do not know how to fish this lake. Everybody gets 4 and 5 star days, but I suck, totally. I have came to the conclusion that I am adequate, for a noob, fishing shallow stained lakes, but these deeper lakes with steeper sides, like Alder and American, kick my behind. Obviously a different beast.

I am thinking that these smallies tend to hold deeper than I am accustomed to fishing, which leaves me wondering where I should actually fish. I keep fishing the shallows, up next to shore, and do not do well. I did catch my first two smb ever, today, both about 10 inches, also got about 17,000 rock bass. I switch strats today, for a while, and kept my boat close to shore and cast out into the depths. Nothing that way, either.

The first smallie that I ever got is why this is 2 star, but I have no doubt that if somebody fished there today, for bass, they did better than I. I saw two beds, both with fish on them, and I saw 3 or 4 other fish in the lillie pads, but nothing would bite for me.

I have always tried drop shotting in this lake, as well, but didn't today. Maybe I should have just because of the steep slopes, it seems that that would nmake it easier to get down to bottom and stay down. I don't know......

So, fishinfool, I sent you an e-mail. I assume that you will read this. I did not take you up on your offer, last year, to show me how to catch these fish out of this lake, but now, if offer still standing, am ready:)

Check the south end by the boat ramp, there is a point to the east of the Island, There is a sunken Island marked by a Rocks buoy. There is a sharp drop off in the direction of the Island, Aprox 40' down there should be SMB, also to the west by the Camp grounds on Camp Murry there is a section cordoned off by Large orange floats, Very Gravely, with a sharp drop to around 40' I have seen pictures of fish caught from the drop off (I can tell by the Trees Posted March 19th 2010). put a worm on a bass hook and Cast, let it fall to the bottom of the ledge pull it up as far as you can let it sink back down... In theory you should catch something...
