Forgot to turn my fish finder off last night when I put my boat away, so I decided to go to the lake turn it off and go home, when I got there the lake was so nice I decided to go out and throw a plug or two around. I was casting at the bay by the creek that runs into American. I had picked up a rock bass early in the morning and hadnt had a hit since, I got to the creek, cranked about twice and BAM, Right away i knew this was not the annoying Rock Bass that I've been catching, for a few second I thought I may just be snagged but, It took my plug and ran, It came to the top of the water and I knew I was in for a great fight, It only lasted about a minute and a half but I caught the fish of a life time. It was a 21" 8 1/2LB Hog... It is probably the biggest Large mouth I think I have ever seen, especially out of American Lake. I hated to take it back with me but I had to have it mounted (no one would believe me), Even the Taxidermist said that it was one of the largest Large mouth he had ever seen. I have a picture I will post later... Its nice to know that there are some monsters in this lake...

Great fish, that's an old fish, might not have lived too many years longer. There are more big ones in there.

I'd would have deleted some of them, too. They were not necessary. Lock3056 that was a great fish. It is your choice to keep or release and you were legal to keep it. I wouldn't mind seeing the finished product.

Congrats Lock! I haven't ever caught a LMB that big, my biggest was right at 7 lbs. and that was like 20 years ago in central CA. I can't wait to see the pics. And I personally have no prob with mounting a fish of that size, that's likely a once-in-a-lifetime catch. Way to go my friend!

Would love to see a picture of that fish ...especially with the crazy digital age we are in now. But I would have to at least get my grandma to use her old instant polaroid out of attic just so I could have a pic of myself with that monster.

Whoa, that is a HUGE FATTY!!!

Beautiful fish.
Maybe you shoulda let it play under the boat and fought it a little longer to make a better story though for a once-in-a-lifetime Washington bass :-)

That's what the 1 LMB limit over 17 inches is all about- keep that trophy if it happens to be worthy of a taxidermist!

That is probably the biggest LMB I have seen posted on this forum...

That picture barely does it justice, The day before I had dropped my phone into the lake, I wasnt planing on going out so I didnt have my camera, and I was Defiantly not expecting to catch that. There was a boat down the shore line from me working my way, They heard the commotion, when I landed it I held it up and yelled "HEY BOYS Check this one out!" They looked at me like they had smelled sh*t.
I probably worked every inch of commotion on American last year with nothing to show for it, I'm glad It finally paid off, Its been a slim spring for me. I've been skunked quite a few times since February.
I'm guessing the guy who had his posts deleted was a little angry that I had kept it... Normally I would agree with him, and I did feel bad for taking it. but I'm sure if the rolls were reversed he would keep it too... on the bright side... the Perch Population will probably surge, this year now that this pan fish Vacuum has been eradicated

That is a hawg fish for west side and out of American Lake too plus 'only' a stout 21 inches to reach that weight!
Just saw the state record at about 11 1/2 pounds from Banks, wow.
The panfish are celebrating for sure... Even the big ones LOL.

yeah as soon as I got home I looked up the state record, sometimes I forget there is more to the state than the west side...

Alright, I have gotten the fish back from the Taxidermist, I posted it up on the trophy fish forum... the guy did a really good job, but when I got it home I realized... he gave it Small Mouth Markings... WTF, It looks good on my wall and he was so proud of it I didn't have the heart to say anything, I figure I can get it repainted at some point...
