Stopped by the Southport pier after work for about an hour. Wanted to see if I could get a nice trout or a smallie. The lake was full of salmon fry jumping everywhere. Tried to float some night crawlers for a while, with no luck. Switched to a silver flashing jig and caught a pretty big Northern Pikeminnow not long after that, and left for home right after.

Yes. It wasn't listed on the pamphlet as restricted, so I took it home. I didn't realize until later that it's on the "do not eat" list from the health department. It's now filleted, in my freezer, waiting for me to figure out what to do with the meat. I try a small bite before that, and actually thought it was pretty good.
I was thinking about using the meat as bait, could anyone advise on this? is it worth it at all?

You could haul it over to Lake Chelan and do some damage on a laker!! I know that is too far to go to use the pike minnow for bait ............but it was the first thing that came to mind, so there you go then. Pretty sure raw is better than cooked when using the pike minnow for bait.

They work great for crab and crayfish bait. I have also had success using the meat to tip my lures for cutts and perch. Belly strips from most any fish is a great bait by itself, you might want to try it on some salt water species like lings, flounder or halibut.

You can bury it in the garden, it makes good fertilizer!
