Headed to Liberty from 5:30 till 7:30pm last night. Water temps were around 57F where I was at and with the overcast skies could barely see the bottom. Got the 2lb 5oz fish in a few casts and about 20 minutes later got the 4lb 14oz fish as well. I saw the scale reading and it was the same as my last big fish so I pulled on the scale to see if HOPEFULLY it was stuck at that weight. It ticked back down to 4lb 15oz though so I know it was a good reading. That elusive 5lb barrier is still there for me so maybe I'll get it before the spawn.
Fish caught on crankbaits in craw patterns using a varied retrieve. They weren't hitting hard but when they took it, were definitely pinned with both trebles.
Switched to a senko so that I can begin developing that technique and got a couple follows from under a dock. Nothing like watching a pair of smallies come out and just stare at your bait. I think they were daring each other to take it but nobody stepped up to the plate.
