Checked out Potholes and the Seeps. Water temps from 54 - 58.4 in productive areas. Most of the fish caught were staging for spawn. I did spot a number of fish holding on beds. 6" Hudds worked slowly along brush near rocks produced the most action. We also managed to get a few on buzzbaits of all things. The bite was pretty hot late in the afternoon on Sweet Beavers and Senkos tossed into grass.

Not a bad pair of LMBs there!..
You are probably the guy to hit up for west side crappie/perch (or at least crappie) info but not sure if you have tried any of the small lakes around Federal Way? i.e. 5-Mile, Steel, Geneva, Star, Trout, Killarney?
Maybe unreported places like Mirror or Surprise? Can't get to the big waters like Sammamish and Washington plus prefer the stuff close to home so I can learn the little lakes better.
TIA if U have any info...

And Tight Lines...

DANG IT! Was there last week for several days but were kept off the lake by the 50mph winds and 4' swells! Will try to get back over there again in 10 days or so.

Yeah, the wind was blowing a bit this trip but I don't think they topped 16mph which is not bad for over there lol. It was enough to blow us off the mid-lake structures I like to fish for smallies.

littlefishes,
Those FW lakes are great. We've caught some nice ones from Dolloff about two weeks ago. Trout has some slabs in it as well. Check out Shadow, Sawyer, and Ward as well. I'm going to check out Lake Wa and Sammamish this weekend. I'll post a report if they are biting.

Thx Slab... With Dolloff you mean you caught nice LMBs or crappie LOL?
Hell, I'll let a 4 pound LMB go w/o a pic but if I catch a mess of perch or crappie I'll lay 'em out like trophies for the camera!

PS- littlefishes/knotabassturd same person, I forgot my passwd so created the new handle (knot..) and will try to stick to that one to avoid confusion...

We were catching nice crappies out of Dolloff. It's not hot yet but they are starting to bite. You ever fish Blueberry (aka Larsen) for crappies? The north end and east side are good for slabs from late May through June when they spawn. After that you have to fish at night for the big ones. Come to think of it.....I might check out Blueberry this week too lol. They have to be biting by now.

Late reply here...
Never fished Blueberry. Pretty far for me. the Mrs has a tight fishing range for me LOL.
I will probably head out to Killarney or Steel this weekend. Thought about going to Dolloff but am not familiar with the crappie in that lake so not sure where to fish it other than some of the overhanging trees or other visible structure? Wasn't sure if you meant fish N and E side of Dolloff or Blueberry. Thought maybe Dolloff would be better near launch with the slightly deeper water on the SE side.
Killarney I'm familiar with and figure I can at least get some small perch (what I really would like to get are bigger ones and a mess of them) and maybe some bluegill. But the perch in there last couple years have been stunted from overpopulation.
I'll try and do my part to control the over abundant perch :-)
If I can't eat all the perch and they are dinks, I will put them in the garden compost pile LOL.
Gotta knock that population back to get some good supply of decent 9-10 inchers again. Seems like it has been about 5-6 years since I caught decent-sized perch out of there but I like the lake.
Get some decent bluegill later in the summer and occassionally a big LMB will take me for a ride in the floattube. Plus there's the occassional trout thrown in.
Hmm, maybe they could put brown trout in there to eat some of those 4 inch perch!
The rainbows don't seem to do anything to the perch population.

Thx for the info and good luck on Blueberry if you get out...
