I have never been to this lake before. The weather was overcast and at one time I unzipped my coat. I took the temperature of the water right after I got there at 9am and it was 54. I c&r a stocker trout shortly after I got on the water with a carey special fly. I was meeting Glen and Cami for a bass fishing lesson. That came after 10am. I pitched a jig for bass for a while without any results and then I went back to trolling for trout. They caught 2 lmb.
I caught several smaller trout on flies and fake worms. One fish still has the fake worm in its mouth because the leader broke while I was trying to get the hooks out and it fell back into the water. They didn’t seem to be attracted to the olive woolly buggers so I went to a black woolly worm and that worked well. I did try several lures from the spinner swap I was involved in but the fish didn’t take them. Toward the end of my fishing day I put on a wedding ring type lure that I made and then tipped with a worm. The fish seemed to like the worm and I caught the last two keepers on that. This was my personal best day trout fishing. One at 14 inches that was over a pound, one just under 14 inches, two at 13 inches, and one at 12 inches. I fished from 9am until 3pm.
