I have fished Downs Lake for several years and owned the resort for five years a few years ago and have never seen crappie fishing like I seen today. I watched folks fishing within casting distance of the docks pulling in one after another most in the 10-14in range. Folks coming in boats from the other side of the lake had limits all in the 14 inch range. A few perch also coming in but they were on the smaller side most about 11 inches. I didnt have time to fish today but I will be on the water next weekend for sure.

An 11 inch perch is a big one in most peoples' books. What do the big ones run in Downs? Sounds like some good fishing, maybe even worth travelling for.

Hmmmmmmmm......sounds kinda fishy to me. Water is still very cold with this weather pattern we've had the past couple weeks. Are spiny ray normally that active in 50-55 degree water?
