Fished Lake Stevens again on Sunday. I got a little bit of a late start, so on the water around 8:00. I think people have been reading the reports, as there was quite a flotilla! I saw Tom Nelson buzzing around the lake in his big red boat. He trolled too, but wasn't ever out where we were hitting most of the fish.

The fish were harder to come by Sunday than earlier in the week. I don't know if that was due to the increased boat traffic or the brighter sunshine. I tried some deeper depths due to the light, but still did the best around 14-20 feet down... I had one hit at 10 feet, though I was running the gear a ways behind the downrigger and it may have dropped a couple of feet below the ball. Had hits on the same gear as last time... orange or red wedding rings behind dodgers tipped with Berkley power maggots. I also tried a brass triple teaser and had a hit on that as well. I had to go home for chores about 1:30, but managed to squeak out 6 kokes and probably 4-5 more lost.

I do want to give a shout out to Rotten Chum Guide Service. He and I fished in the same area for a while, and he did a great job with a young angler. I don't know if it was parents or grandparents with them, but they let the kid reel in most all of the fish. They lost a lot, but looked like they were having fun. I think he has also donated trips to CCA, so double round of "snaps" for him.

Now to get ready for shrimp and halibut! Probably won't get back to Stevens for a while...

Thanks for the great reports, I have never caught a kokanee before and I think I will give a try tomorrow, if its not to windy, I need to find some fishing to keep my daughter occupied, until those pesky salmon come home to puget sound and the fun begins.

so most of the catching, I think, has been going on from the aeration equipment over towards the mouth of the bay... all on the north shore area. some folks were fishing in shallower, but I stayed out in 90-135 ish depth, still fishing up around 15 feet, though... good luck!
