Fished Lost Lake Saturday for the first time. WDFW enforcement was out checking for licenses. Glad to see them fine folks. It was really cold and the rain came in waves letting off once in a while to fool you into thinking it was going to stop. This lake was recently stocked by WDFW (May 27th) but I didn't get any. Tried a variety of wolly buggers, chironomids, and streamers on fast troll, slow troll, and quick stripping techniques. My rookie flyfishing girlfriend hooked into a nice Triploid with a beaded prince nympth floating 15' off the shore. I think she didn't even realize it was hooked at first. With the wind and rain there was little insect action. I saw 1 fish surface to gobble up what looked like a light tan mayflies when the wind died down for a second. There were a few other fishermen using spinners and bait. Chatting with them they were more "successful" with spinners. The wind was too strong to explore in our float tubes and the cold finally beat me. Lost Lake appears to have great potential. The lake is deep and clean. Since it has been recently stocked you should do pretty well fishing near the surface. Try the little bays near the boat launch. Good luck!
