OK, the word is out so I am going to post the pics and make it official. I have been trying to catch this bass for 6+ years and finally did it! 8.6lbs and 22.5x18. I never keep bass but this one came home and is going on the wall. I get it back in the next 4 weeks from Gary Blew in Deer Park. He is the one that is doing the mount for me.

Nice fish! You should get it mounted next to one of those giant Goldfish at JOJ. LOL

And then he got home and found out how much it cost to make a skin mount & that fish went to waste. I think members should know most places do fiberglass replicas from photos & measurement at a fraction of the cost of a skin mount. That is one old fish so I don't think it would have lived much longer anyhow.

Fish4much,
A diehard bass fisherman that practices C&R does not keep a bass like this and waste it. I caught it May 16th and it was in Gary Blews freezer two weeks later. There is alot of history between me and JumpOffJoe lake and I will be glad to explain offline if anyone cares. Plus, that fish would have died. It had brown stuff in its gills, and if you look close at the second pic, it smacked the dock in two feet of water trying to break my line and had a dent in its head. I will be getting the fish back shortly, it takes a year with Blew since be does such good work. It should be pretty sweet!

fishelk,
You brought back memories with you mentioning gold fish. I remember when that lake was full of them. Back in the day when I was 15 years old, I think I was the only one that bass fished that lake. I am 38 now. That lake is not what it used to be. I use to catch a 4 punder almost every trip out. Too many bass fisherman these days for that 100 acer lake. I even saw a 21 foot Ranger on that lake last year with a 250 Vmax. Pretty crazy.

Yeah i here you on that its a small lake and i have seen 5 different 20 plus foot Rangers Nittros on that lake the last 2 years when i was younger i used to keep bass (due to being young and dumb) but now it is all C&R i go to the coast to catch sea bass and halibut for my fried fish needs now but last year i still pulled in over a dozen big bass from 4 to 6 pounds and lots of 1 to 3 pounders in between but dont post reports on it becuase of the crazy big bouts it seems to draw in whenever people find out there are big fish in there . by the way nice fish i think i lost that same fish in late april last year:(

Very nice largemouth! I have fished that lake and caught a few largemouth but nothing like that ponderous pole bender. I also recall those large gold fish.

Sweet! What a hog! Any LMB over 8lbs is a catch of a lifetime for some in the great northwest, mount it!

My biggest LMB from this lake prior to this fish was 6.5 so this one was special. Especially since I would see it a couple times a year and never could get it to take my bait made it a challenge. I knew it probably was over 7 pounds but would have never guessed it was over 8.

Fish4Much - I posted a pic in a new post just for you to prove that the fish did not get wasted. I don't keep fish so since I made an exception with this fish I was not about to waste it, regardless of cost.
