The hike up to Domke was an easy three miles. We arrived at the lake at about 2:00 and set up camp on the north shore. After renting a boat, which was $40, we were on the water. I tried a black chronomid for about an hour with no response. Immediately after switching to a olive scud I hooked a 14 inch rainbow. My Dad and i both fished with olive scuds off of the northwest shore, just outside the weed beds for the rest of the evening and caught about ten fish each, rainbows and cuts up to 16 inches. The fish were fat and healthy with amazing colors. They put up great fights and I had a few runners. The next day I used a black egg sucking leach fished deep just where a river comes in on the southwest end of the lake and caught several more 12-14 inch fish. I also caught fish on a brown damsel as well as brown and green buggers trolled and cast. We did keep one fish and it was a treat fried with onions and mushrooms. The weather was hot both days and the fishing was great. The wind was a problem at times but nothing to wine about. Make sure you have an anchor in the boat, two is even better. This will be an annual trip no doubt.
