We launched from WDFW launch around 5:45. Weather was mostly clear, surface temp was around 50 degrees, no wind at all (picked up slightly around 9:30. Fish were jumping everywhere. I used a wedding ring trailing with worms and eggs, and a medium split shot just to stay in the first 8-12 feet or so and trolled mostly by the VA hospital and up to near the new docks and then back down around the island. Before going in, after the initial surface bite had dropped off for an hour or so, I dropped on more weight and ran the same wedding ring at around 25-30' just to see and got a strike and a 13" fish about 5 minutes later! Fished till 11am. Had many strikes throughout the morning, Ended up boating 5 of them and keeping 3: a 13", 13.5" and 14.5" . Bite was heaviest in the morning between 7:30 and 9:30 but never ended. Wind stayed away mostly and it was a nice warm 60 when we left and not one pleasure boater all morning! All in all, a great morning on American.
