Went out to Newman Lake this morning at about 8am. Caught a 41" Tiger Muskie on the south side of the lake at about 11am. Tried fishing for Bass, Crappie, pretty much anything that would bite a hook... The 41incher weighed 15lb, my biggest fish yet!!!

Caught and released a 38" Tiger Muskie in the middle of the lake at 1pm using the same lure...

Other than these 2 fish, we didnt have any more bites, we were out until 4pm...

Were you trolling when you caught the tigers? Also were you using spoon type lures or Rapala type lures?

I used Rapala type... The 41"er I caught out of a first cast, we stopped by to try for some crappie so i decided to drop the first fishing pole in the water and cast out a few times, got her on the hook like 3 sec after the lure hit the water...

Water Temp: 45*F

The 38"er i caught trolling, dont know how fast i was going, but seemed to be the same as regular pulling speed for a 6"/3 treble hook Rapala...

I wonder why both musky's tails are so chewed up? What could possibly be chewing on them in the lake?

Hope the Dept of game lowers the 50 Min size someday....

Muskie's tails get like that when you net them, they tear incredibly easily. i think they heal pretty quickly. Pike are the same way though it seems like they don't tear up quite so easy.

Thanks Dima. I am just trying to get a little bit of an idea, have never fished for them before and am thinking about fishing the 2 fer tournament coming up there on May 1st so any info will be helpful.
