Fished for 2 days, saw little on the fish finders, only one strike, a couple of follows but no fish landed. Threw everything in the arsenal at them. Talked to several others and all had the same results. I think a combination of one low presure system after another as well as the high winds, cold fronts and cold weather still has this lake shut down. Seems to be a lot less fish in this lake than we have seen in years past too. Mother-in-law caught a nice largemouth in Burke lake next door. Got it within site of shore before it broke the line. Burke was poisened off many years ago of the spiney rays but looks like they are making a comeback again. Lets hope. The trout here taste like crap!

We had the same problem last weekend in that area. I just hope these cold fronts dont take away all the warm weather we had. It was WAY nicer weather at the beginning of March than it was last week. Its too bad about the bass in Burke, must have been a transplant from Stan Coffin. Agreed, not the most desirable tasting trout from Burke, but they just started getting to the point where there are some NICE holdovers in there

Yes two years ago I caught what must have been a triploid in Burke, was about 24" and real thick. I was casting a Rooster tail from shore just for grins and saw it out of the corner of my eye following the lure, it took it about 3' from shore, no fight at all just brought it up. Oh well. I would have settled for anything at Evergreen, a tiger muskie, walleye, SM or LM but alas nothing and more strangely not much showing on the FF. Most I saw was right off the western boat dock as we were coming back in to take the boat out. Large school of what I would guess was bait fish with two big ones in the middle. I made a few casts with a Yamamoto grub through the area but nothing.

Evergreen has always been extremely susceptible to swings in the barometer and changing weather patterns. I would also guess that the water temp was not real high either, which could contribute to some inactivity. And it hasn't been full of water for more than a month...which means a 5 foot gain in water depth quite quicky. Last, I believe our nights have just been too cold for the warm days to have enough effect. Thanks for the report...I've been wondering if anyone had explored Evergreen yet. As soon as I try it I'll get a report posted.

Bob: Caught my first smallmouth there about 2 years ago in the exit chanel at the west end. Was I nice fat 2 pounder and was sitting in the deeper chanel water where there is a bit of current. I was surprised too as I had always only found LM.

Lundegard: I think you have it exactly right. We do a yearly trip over to the lakes first of April to be with the Back Country Horsemen as my wife and mother-in-law are members. Last year was tought fishing too but did manage 3 nice LM. Was hoping for better this year but oh well. Will try again later on. Have a trip planned for 3rd week of may over to Roosevelt at Keller Ferry for some fishing. Looking forward to that.
