Fished this lake in a jonboat with a fishfinder all morning. Marked lots of large and small fish that I suspect, based on the blogs, included some bass, walleye, catfish and crappie/bluegill. I tried jigs with skirts, worms or maggots. I tried trolling with a dodger and wedding ring with worm trailer, a couple of different large and small Rapalas, and some trolling flies. Not one bump. I caught some big crappie (including a 15 inch 1.5 lb hog) during the winter with a jig with worm from the shore at this lake about 2 months ago. I also caught and released a 12" walleye on the bottom with a worm jig a week ago. Locals told me this lake is good for spiney rays in the Summer. I invite comments from those who have fished this lake.

The problem with these lakes is you have to hike in during the summer months. They had to shut down the gate because of all the partying. So like most, I really only fish this lake during the spring

Actually they only shut the gate to upper goose, lower goos access is open all year. Upper goose is a great fishery in the fall for walleye, bass and the such there are some real pigs in there. Not much pressure in the summer so the fish are easy to fool.

I would bet the fish you were marking on sonar were carp.

I would guess Lundegard to be correct for a big percentage. Upper is better than lower, and Canal has been good to me in recent years. Till the gate is shut I fish Upper Goose (more walleye by far) then go to Canal. Used to go to Soda, but it really gets pounded on windy days. Good fishing, fishinChristian.

Just a clarification. My original report refered to Lower Goose Lake.
