My son and I spent the afternoon fishing at Whitman Lake but no luck. We tried top waters, spinnerbaits, senkos, jigs and crank baits with zero bites. We fished the docks and the island. No luck. Water temp was between 52 and 53 degrees. We had a few little guys follow our baits but nothing big enough to even attempt to grab the lures. Oh well it was our first time there so maybe we just haven't patterned the lake as of yet.

Did you try a drop shot rig? I hear when the bass are still cold and not moving around they'll go for a drop shot with a worm if it's right in front of them.

We did not specifically try a drop shot rig but did try shaky head 5" worms. The rod I normally use for drop shoting has a broken tip and I just didn't think about giving a drop shot rig a try. Whitman Lake appears to have a featureless bottom so I would guess fishing the docks would be the best bet.
