So I headed out with my float tube and fished rock again. Got there about 1 o'clock and after moving up a little way on the west side of the lake, I started cast a 1/6 oz rooster tail against the bank. Was kinda slow for the first hour, had lost one and landed a small brown. But about 3 o'clock, when the shadows started to form, things got hot. I ended up keeping 3 nice browns and either releasing or not landing about 7 more. All in all a beautiful day for fishing. Something I should note: Twice I hooked into something really big right on the bottom which took off with line and pulled really hard. I was only able to keep each of them on about 5 minutes, and in that time they never broke the surface of the water or gave any line back. Eventually they just shook the hook. I have no idea what they could be, since I was using a rooster tail it doesn't seem likely that they'd be catfish or anything. If anyone has had similar experiences, or knows what these fish may have been, let me know at bjperry@hotmail.com. Also for those of you wanting to be successful on the lake, the rooster tails that work best are those which are brightly colored. The one I was using was green, red, and orange with black dots and the blade was gold. Good luck.
