FINALLY! Launched around 10am into a snow flurry of all things! Ran northwest from the launch up towards the RV park on the west side of the lake. There is a shallow rocky flat and point there that breaks off into about 12-15 feet. The wind was blowing out of the north 5-10mph so I would cast into the wind bring the crankbait across the shallow flat and down the drop into about 10' of water. Covered the area without a bite working my way back south. There are alot of scattered rocks out to 18' in this area, so I motored back up wind and put the boat in about 9' and began casting a 3" Yamamoto grub in green pumpkin on a 3/8oz jig head out into deeper water. I would sweep the rod back slowly until I found the start of the rocks, then bounce it through the rocks and back to the boat. 3rd cast doing this and the 4.1lb smallie in the first pick grabbed it, he put up a real good fight for a cold fish and was spitting out chunks of the crawdad in his throat all the way in! Worked the area thoroughly for about two hours, but no other takers.

Headed northeast to the far corner of the lake alternating between the cranks and grubs with the occassional drop shot for good measure. Marked fish suspended at 10' in 14' of water above grass clumps, so back to the crankbait that dives 10' and caught the 3.2lb smallie on the second cast, he however went limp and just rode to the boat. Hooked and lost another on the crank, then went about an hour with no other action. Headed back to the rock field and hooked and lost two more on the grub....the wind made it tough to feel the subtle bites and as a result I was late on the trigger! No complaints here though, got the skunk out of the boat and that's all that matters! Air temp was in the low to mid 40's and the water temp was 48.5 in most places. Now it's time for a couple largemouth!
