Every year I try to make it up and fish The Quincy lakes in Grant county. This year I took my fiancee Pam for a boat ride to not only catch some trout, but officially confirm that my over winter patch job on my 10' Lowe aluminum boat would hold up and keep the water out. We lauched up at The rd. 3 Eastern boat launch proceeded to troll Smiley Blade spinners and wedding rings tipped with a piece of crawler. The day started out slow for us, even as both bank anglers and trollers were scoring some decent bow's with a couple of carryovers pushing 3 lbs! I finally switched on my Lowrance fish finder and we anchored up on a spot in 14 feet of water. I tied on a 1/32 oz, crappie jig with a brown pumpkin skirt and immediately started catching 10- 11" inch trout. My third fish was a very fat 13" Triploid that cleared the water twice. Pam got hit as often as I, so I pressed down our barbs and casualy released some 15 fish and took home a 5 fish limit for the pan. To those guys out there, I have sworn off using treble hooks with my powerbait rigs. I now use a Mustad light wire dropshot hook and I still get plenty of hookups. Just a little note, My friend Mikey Granillo of Sunnyside picked up a 19 lb Hen Steelhead up on the Snake behind Ice Harbor Dam around one of the south side pullouts. He was using a secret recipe purple shrimp and float. He was very, very lucky indeed! The Jigmiester
