Rock lake was quite clear this last Saturday. In fact, the lake was also as smooth as glass most of the day (no doubt the calm before the storm). Even with the overcast conditions most of the day, fishing was generally slow. I fished the usual rock cliffs with only two fish, one on a jig and one on a spoon. Both fish came as the result of extreme long distance cast. Most others did even worse than I did, but one boat that broke the unstated rules for this lake did well trolling pop-gear all day (12 keeper browns). The owner of part of the lake was ending a goose hunting outing when I got there (around noon) and was telling me the fish were rolling quite well early in the morning. As an after thought, we received heavy rains Saturday night from a well formed storm, it is very possible the falling pressure, coupled with the extreme calm, caused the fish to go deep.
