A friend and I took our daughters up to Brandt's Landing for a day of plunking, maybe to catch some fish, but mostly to let the girls have a good time. We set out our rods, and then got a fire going. We caught one nice rainbow about 15 minutes later, on a marshmallow and half night crawler. Probably 3 pounds, 18 or 19 inches. It wasn't your typical football triploid with a tiny head and a smolt-like tail! This fish looked more like a steelhead. We changed up baits regularly until 230p, but had no more bites. Worms, power bait, shrimp, corn. Bobber-and-jig, and plunking. Didn't try any casting, like Rooster Tails, crank baits, etc. The girls had fun cooking soup and Vienna sausages over the coals, plus ripping around on the shore. They both said they'd go again so that's what matters. We didn't see anyone else at Brandt's land a fish. We saw several boats anchored and trolling at Brandt's, didn't see them catch a fish either. About a dozen boats passed headed to the pens, but we have no idea how anyone did.
