Sunday morning we headed for Lake Cavanaugh. I had not been there in 30 years and was surprised at the development around the lake. It is still a beautiful lake and the homes are for the most part cabins so there is a rustic feel to the lake. The surrounding scenery is incredible. We launched the boat and headed towards the islands to fish the 70-80’ hole at the west end of the lake. We fished dodger/wedding band or dodger/sort of woolly-bugger combos on lead line at 4 colors or off the down rigger at 52’ -56’ in 70’ of water. During the few hours that we were there we had constant action on 10”-12" kokanee and cutthroat trout. Our weather window was short lived but we still went home with 5 nice fish, all pink flesh and perfect for dinner.
