Rock has always intrigued me. I've heard everything about it, good, bad, ugly. I put in and started at the South end and worked up the west side. About a third of the way I was getting occasional strikes, but no hookups. I tried the usual, W. Buggers, leech, nymphs with a sinking line. I tried a sinking tip to get shallower but it was no help. I got skunked big time! I will be back to try some tricks I learned the following day at Fourth of July lake. I just wasn't fishing where the fish were. I saw a few feeding on the surface and me with out my floating line. I think they were feeding on nymphs just below the surface. Loud sucking noises were heard now and them.
I just can't figure when to go deep and when to fish shallow. Most folks out there had fish finders to help with the odds. My fish finder did not work today (green or black wolly bugger). I've got to learn to try other models.
