After a bust at Lake Goodwin, "Datsun"-- MIchael and I went over to Cavenaugh to see what we could stir up. I must say that this is a really beautiful lake. There is one launch which is gravel and not too soft, AND FREE!! We only had about an hour before dark. We set out down towards the islands. About half way there we saw a lot of small fish rising, I threw out one of the Armadillo spinners from WALAKES sponser, "Fish Creek Spinners" It was in the water less than two minutes and it was fish on! Pulled in a small and skinny 8" rainbow. We spent the majority of our time circling the VERY COOL islands on the lake. Fish were rising everywhere on the S. side of the islands. I caught a second one of the same stunted size, and had one self release, and a few bobber take downs. Most of the action was when I slowly dragged a Olive Wooly Bugger about 8' behind a bobber. It should be noted that I did mark a fair amount of larger fish in the area just S. of the island.
If my pics. make it in... it should be noted that these beautiful islands have some rough out buildings and rope swings, etc. The one pic. shows a very cool little cabin all by itself on a small island. ( If anybody knows how you go about buidling on one of these islands, please pass it on. I am just curious. I don't see how it could be privately owned property) Or who just owns it??
Def. will come back again soon with the fly rod.
