I got to the lake at about 7:15 pm, eager to observe the characteristics of two lures I had just purchased. The weather was mildly cool with scattered drizzle lazily fell. I was going for the big bass under the dock but my attempts to land them were fruitless. There was a big bass that was hanging out near the shore of the swimming area. There is no doubt she was just laughing at two other anglers and me who trying to entice her. At about 8 pm, I switched to my go-to lure, a Rapala original minnow. I have always caught something each time I used it. I told myself if I didn't catch anything soon, I'd switch to "Trout Mode," i.e., use power bait and wait. I cast my Rapala out parallel to the weed/lily bed and on my second retrieve a nice-sized trout latched onto it. I caught another trout of equal size in the same area about ten minutes later. Two trout in ten minutes? I'd say not bad for a novice and a great way to end the day. See you there next time!
