I tried to cure a cold today. It was low overcast, mid to upper 30's & calm almost all day. Pool was full & little to no water movement. Water temp. of 40-42 degrees.Fish were few & far between. They were biting very timidly. One tapped on a black woolly bugger & that was it on flies. I tried black, brown, red and olive colorred woolly buggers. I finally caugth a few with a home made double whammy behind a 4/0 dodger. I tried multiple colors and leader lengths. I ended up using double whammy with 36" leader, ruby beads, black colorado #5 blade & black yarn in the hooks. Trolling dead slow was the other thing.C&R'd 4 smaller ones & got off the water with 2 that could have grown for another day. But, even if they're not big, some times you have to take home some proof!
Talked with a few bank fishers that weren't doing any good. I also talked with two boats at take out. Three guys in one boat had fished up by pump No. 1. They only caught 2 fish. The other boat didn't spend much time & was just learning the area.
I still have the cold but I'm sure it will get better soon.
