Hit up the lake for the last time in 2009. launched around 10:30am and headed North to see what the Lake had to offer. Surface temps were around 46 degrees and the winds were coming out of the Northeast. I found quite a bit of bait near Luther Burbank park but had no luck so I packed up and headed to Evergreen Point with the wind and rain increasing in intensity. Similar results, bait in the area but no takers. I had been dragging around Apex style lures and various spoons and decided to switch it up a bit. Ran down to the North side of the I-90 bridge and threw out a 0000 dodger and mini hootchie. Wasn’t more than 5 minutes before Mrs. Cutt came a callin at 35’ off the downrigger. She was a bit smaller than one would normally find in the Lake but she put up a good fight. I think she came right out of the salt as there was a single sea louse hanging on near the ventral fin. The camera flash washed out her colors a bit, I love the way they look this time of year, getting ready for the spawn. Held her in the water next to the boat for a moment before she exploded from my grip and headed back to the depths from whence she came. It was near 2:00pm so I packed it in and called it a day. See you out there in 2010!
