Well, we had to try it again today, Sat nov 21, 2009. We drove up to Seaton's Grove Launch, and boated down to the first pens. There was little then no current at the upper pens location today and the bite was slower than yesterday. There were several boaters soaking bait, and we saw some of them boat fish. We stuck to artificials, Flies, lures, jigs, and spinners, with the jigs being the predominant producer for us today. I did not get any strikes on the flies, but I plan to do battle with one of the bigger brutes on my fly pole before the winter is over. A few hits on the super roostertail, and no hits on the spoons today. Air temps reached lower 40s when the sun came out from behind the clouds, but the breeze was chilly otherwise. Water temp in mid 50s. Cindy and I caught several, released several, had some come off the hook before we got them to the boat and ended up keeping our limits. One of mine was hooked deep enough I kept it instead of releasing in hopes of a larger one. With yesterday and todays limits we have some in the smoker and will have to eat on the others so we can go try for some more in a week or two. We ran into Big Smooth AND company at the launch during take out, Great to meet fellow WLers. I look forward to his report as there was mention of a good sized trout coming to his boat.
Thanks all for reading the reports and putting forth comments. Stay safe on the water.
