Day after opening day my friend Andrew and I hit the lake at about 6am. We didn't have any luck till about 9 or so, but when it happened, it happened. My first fish was a 22" rainbow. He put up quite a fight but I won in the end. He was sitting about 2 feet from shore, and I was using a Rooster Tail... yellow I think. One word for ya: Net. Bring one. We lost about 4 or so large rainbows at the edge of the boat because I forgot the net. Andrew didn't catch a thing all day, but I came home with 4 rainbows, 13, 13, 18 and 22". Just about everyone we saw there had one in the 20" range. Best day of fishing for me ever. We had the best luck trolling with flashers and Rooster Tails.
This lake has been good to me many many times. Its a long lake, and very shallow at times, but trolling for Trout is good. Last year (June/2003) I took my son for his first fishing experience, and we both caught our limit from about 6am to 11am. The trout were all 10-14". About a mile into the lake from the resort, on the left hand side, is a small grassy area free of trees (there are very few areas like this) we got out and sat on the bank and did our fishing there. There were no trespassing sings there last time, so make sure its ok to be there.
