Got on the water at about 9:30, first day off in six days I had to sleep in! Water was a cool 54-56 degrees and it was raining off and on. One other boat was on the water bass fishing on "piling corner", so I decided to head the opposite direction and fish the docks. Missed a short strike on a spinnerbait that may have been a large trout?. I say that only because a large trout 18+ inches chased a jig back to the boat later in the day...
Caught the only fish of the day near a point on the east side of the lake, on the south side of a dock. He hit 4lbs even and was taken on a brown Zoom Swamp Crawler rigged shaky head style on a 1/4oz black jig head. He fought god for the temperature of the water!
Missed three other strikes over the next four hours, one of which was most definately a perch! The water was fairly stained due to all the rain, and I found a "slack bouncing" approach got hit...making the worm jiggle without moving the bait much seemed to help them find where it was, now if they would have just held on a second longer I may have rated this lake a 4 for the first time all year??!
I'll be back after elk season....
