after a few slow days fishing rufus, we decided to give omak lake a try for the first time after reading anton's report. neither bubba or myself had been to this lake before nor had we fished for these cutthroats, but we were not disappointed. we fished both saturday and a half day sunday, easily catching our limit and then some, but only keeping 5 fish between the two of us. both days started out below freezing but warmed up to the upper 40's and into the 50's. water temp was at 55*. most of our fish were caught between 45-60' on the downriggers in 90' of water or less. we used various colored wobblers (couldn't find the rushin salmon wobblers) and did best with shades of blue. hot lure of the trip was a coyote 3.5 spoon in blue/purplish hue. we didn't catch the lunkers i've seen and heard about, but we did have a blast learning to fish this beautiful lake and broadening our horizons a little more. seeing quite a few deer with a few nice bucks thrown in, and a bunch of wild turkey was an extra bit of icing on the cake...
