There is something to be said for having weekdays off, there is nothing like pulling up to your favorite boat launch and seeing no other vehicles around and knowing you'll have the lake to yourself, that being said, there is a flip side to that coin....
Hit Samish this morning for the first time in a while, I wanted to be on the water for the incoming cold front and had high expectations, after launching and fishing the area in front of the launch and then northeast for a bit with one dink to show for it, I decided to run west and fish that shore for a while. This produced a 3.8lb largemouth on a "frankenbait", a bait I made out of two different baits.... I continued south along the west shore and only managed one other dink, so I decided to head to the south end. Fished the southern docks, rocks, and pads out to 20 feet with no results, so I ran back northwest where I caught the largie...
I started on the west side fishing north from where I caught the first bass and fished about 100 yards with nothing more than nibbles and a couple dink followers, so I ran up a bit farther staying on the nw side of the lake. I started fishing my way towards a steeper bank and started catching largemouth, one about 1.5lbs and a few dinks. I also had a larger smallie chase my bait back to the boat, so I knew I was getting into a good area!!
A gentleman stepped through the bushes on the bank and yelled out to me asking me if I owned the black and grey truck at the boat launch, I answered yes, and he informed me I had been hit!! I fired up the motor, ran across the lake, and sure enough, there was the large rock and the pile of glass that hammered home the fact I had been a victim of a smash and grab!!:(
Fortunately I keep NOTHING of value in my truck for just this reason!! They rummaged through my glove box but didn't take the dog treats LOL, they left behind a mag light, my phone charger and the change in my consol?? They did however make of with a tool kit I kept behind my seat that I payed $49.99 for fifteen years ago...so good luck pawning that for your meth money!! LOL
I poked around in the woods for a few minutes looking for fresh tracks leading to one of the nearby houses, hoping to find someone looking through the tool box so I could put a round in them, but no luck....
I know it's tough times right now for alot of folks, but c'mon, I was laid off for three months this past year and I never stole anything from anyone! The police did respond and are aware of the problem, but just be warned.
I am personally installing a silent alarm that sends a text message to my phone when it's tripped and I will deal with it myself next time...........rock, throw, smash, BANG, f, I'm dead! ;)
The worst part about the whole thing is that I couldn't finish out the days fishing!!! That ticked me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the fact that the thief had very poor aim and completely missed the driver's side window the first time making a nice large dent in the door....it takes a special kind of stupid.....the kind that needs to be removed from the gene pool!!!
