Thanks for the info, was thinking about heading up there myself (I'm from Silverdale). I think heading out in a boat towards the middle or the farthest areas from the swimming area, would give you better results. Been having the same luck at Island lake. I think all the trout and bass are holding out in the deep middle part of the lake.

It was a largemouth, there's no smallmouth in any of the kitsap peninsula lakes Except for maybe Island Lake down in Mason County. Never fished that lake but I've heard there's some nice largemouth in there.

Your going to want to be on the water at Buck for a better shot at the largies. The back side across from the swimming area is good spot. Dissect the lily pads with a t-rigged creature or senko. Another decent spot would be the old beaver dam to the left of the swimming area about half way up the shoreline. Straight across from the launch. Other than that your looking for the laydowns, cuts in the cattails, stobs and underwater structure to find decent LMB. The lake really isn't that deep (about 22ft in the middle) and not very big, so a little bit of time on the water and you'll have the whole lake dialed in. Don't give up, there a few nice ones in there. Biggest I know of would be 6.5lbs and my PB for that lake is a 3.2lber coming on a brushhog t-rigged. I swear I've heard stuff jump in the cattails next to the swimming area, never thought to cast there. I'm borrowing a kayak as my raft is old and leaky (air-wise), so I'll see how that works out.
