Arrived at Erickson's dock(truck in shop, can't pull my own) My son and I walked down to the end of the dock to find schooling bass all over. The sizes ranged from 5-8 inches, not hawgs but certainly a positive sign. I first tossed an x-rap,which was all ready rigged prior. Tossed it several times. Then got my 3 year old rigged up with worm and bobber and let him try for them. They would approach but not connect. At that point,we started to write them off and tried for bluegills, still using the worm/bobber setup,Brett hooked up with several and they all seemed to have a little spunt to them.(Awesome news for the kids) I then rigged up a Yamamoto worm in pumpkinseed/watermelon with a bullet weight. First cast yielded an lmb around a pound. Pitched many, many more times after that but coudn't get anything. At that point I decided to grab a boat and try the log jam to the northeast. Ended up catching several there(still using plastic worm) but nothing going over a pound and a half. At sunset, the topwater became very active and I tried a few Rapala poppers and a Scumfrog but couldn't get anything. It was starting to get dark fast,so I made a very short jog back to the dock. Tried more topwaters but again...nothing. Brett caught 2 more gills and then a dinker lmb on the worm/bobber. Had a beaver cruise up and check us out on the dock. We also had the place to ourselves,so it was very quiet. A full moon and clear skies to boot. We left around 10:30PM and the fish were still very active. Tons of fish caught, all dinks but very much worth it. All fish were released. I did see a few bigger bass(3-5 pounds) sorry,no good at guessing weight. We are coming back this weekend for sure.
Weather was sunny and clear
I tried to post the hotspot info but it wouldn't go to the right spot. I was fishing the northeastern section of the lake but every piece of shoreline looks good.
No,...its not that good. It was great to catch fish but no hawgs on this trip...just saw a few. were going back this weekend, hoping for same and bigger bass but my son enjoys the gills,so that in it self has me itching to go back again and again and again and again. haha, you get the idea. Good luck out at the beach.
Kevin
