Headed back up to Whatcom county today to do some recon on a couple other lakes. Started out on Wiser for some potential topwater action, unfortunately when I arrived I found that all too familiar baby poop green color to the water at the boat launch!! It has been my finding that this shuts the fish down pretty good here...However, it was cloudy with a light sprinkle and I couldn't pass it up! So I figured I would grab a quick lap around the big side of the lake and try my luck.
I did not touch a fish until reaching the south end, where I caught the only fish of the day.
VERY VERY weedy, so bring your patience and be ready to do some prop cleaning! Water temps were 70-72* which I think is cold for this lake this time of year? I have seen water temps on this lake in the low 80's in August before??
Fish caught was on a buzzbait in 4' of water near scattered grass. I also tried a spinnerbait which just bogged down, texas rigged worms out to 8' deep, and floating frogs... made one lap in about 4hrs and took off for Lake Terrell.
