After hearing how well my cousin has done the last week at Loon I had to give it a try. After we found the fish at 44' of water (10:00pm) we caught two right off the bat, and we missed a few, we moved back into 40' of water and not long after, I caught another, about half an hour later my buddy caught one almost 16'' long, the other fish were 12'' to 14''. We missed a few inbetween fish and then it whent dead. I wanted to stay tell at least 1:00 am because that is usually when they seem to hit the best, but, I did not prepare for how cold it got last night.

We are going to give Davis a try in the morning.

Note: The scales came off in hords from these fish as we tried to grab them from the bottom of the boat and after cleaning they really came off during washing!?

Eustace,
I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say that the scales came off . Does that mean that the fish are starting to "turn"?
I did ok about three weeks ago but last couple of trips were busts. Even in talking to others who were coming into the public launch when we did, they were having poor luck too. I have a small boat so don't like to venture clear across the lake to areas like the sockeye hole near Granite Pt. but has the bite been better on the S and E side of the lake? We've been fishing 30 ft of water on the NNE shore line. We've caught some large rainbows, some tigers and a lot of bluegills but very few kokes. Bluegills so thick we have trouble getting the bait down to the bottom. We don't want the trout or bluegills. I don't stay up until the wee hours just to fish for bluegills and trout . Would like to get a few kokes in the boat. Were you having trouble with the bluegills? Would appreciate any hints.

I don't know what it means that these fish are losing there scales so easily. When I whent to pick them up and put in the cooler my hands were just full of scales. I have never seen that many scales come of like that?

I don't call catching 4 fish in 6hrs very good that is for sure. But we did get the biggest I ever seen come out of Loon. I have been skunked once there this year and a couple of times (lately) one or two per person. We have fished all over mostly on the South side of the first point on the west side of the lake as you come from the public launch. But my cousin has been doing OK in up to 50' of water between the NNE end and granite point. So we tried it thereand we found them at 44' to 40'.

I have been done really well at Capman starting at sundown at 50' coming up to 40' by 3:00 am over 110' foot of water. I am spending all my Kok time there from know on (?). It is a bit of a workout pulling up the anchor when done there that is for sure.
