Fished deeper water near a point on the north end, Caught this one on a 3" Berkley power grub, smoke color. While returning to the dock we noted lots of fish holding at around 15 to 30' and came back around to try our luck. Caught one more on the grub and then tried deep diving crankbaits in a crawfish color. Had a couple of really nice sized bass follow the cranks up to the boat but no takers. Son and daughter and law jointed us later in the day and we headed to the south end of snag island where we had seen lots of fish on the sonar. Picked up a few more on smoke and pepper colored plastics and wife caught one right at the boat on the 4" Storm Swim Shad which continues to be a killer too. Day ended early when trying to power through a weed bed with the trolling motor we caught a submerged stump covered by weeds that bent the shaft of the trolling motor and rendered it inoperable. Dang it... Oh well. Caught some nice fish though.

nice bass, to bad about the trolling motor. Gotta love the snags in Tapps.

Yeah, no worries. Took the motor apart as soon as I got home and used my hydraulic press to straighten the tubes, put it back together and it works even better now. Should be back out next week, weather permitting. All those snags are where the fish like to sit though, it's just part of the game.
