Two of us hit the lake at 5PM. Fished just south of Army Marina for 1 1/2 hours, not even a bite. Moved to the mouth of the channel (to Little American Lake); switched to jigs and ended up catching one perch. Highlight of the day though, was tossing the now-dead fish to "flying scavengers". A seagull skimmed by three or four times when a bald (beautiful) eagle swooped down no more than 10 feet from our boat and nailed that perch in its deadly talons...What a Sight! Left the lake at 8PM, pumped and ready to come back for some trout, Kokanee. That eagle was the highlight of our day; from now on we fish with rods, reels and a camera,,,,,

There are actually 4 of them and a resident osprey and they are fun to watch when I fish there. The really big bald eagle (9 foot wingspan) and a juvenile (more brown feathers on his head) hang out in the trees by Harry Todd park and sometimes on the other side by the new Lakewood launch. I've posted photos online with my cell phone camera. If you like to troll try the deeper 25-30 foot area 80-100 yards off the new launch. I always get good bites and land larger rainies there and all the kokes I've ever caught were in the same area. (used to catch them off the 4 docks before they opened but that's a no-no now) 1/4-3/8 ounce Roostertails in yellow, green, and brown work well for me there as well as 1/4 ounce Kastmasters in gold/silver. Key is 4 lb. fluorocarbon, spool your whole reel because it's worth the price...

Thanks for the pointers, I've got a 5HP Nissan that needs another 5 hours before it's completely broken-in. Think I'll try trolling using your suggestions (I've got 8LB test on my reels......time to cut them back to 4LB...). Love those eagles, they make even a SKUNK worthwhile!
