My brother and I got to the lake before light. It was overcast and there was a heavy fog over the water. Couldn't see more than 30 yards. PERFECT! This lake is an electric motor lake only, just FYI.
Before we launched our little dingy, I was showing my brother my new rapala deep diver from the boat launch. I casted it out there and showed him the various motions and movements it could do. WHAM! a fish hit it in just three feet of water, 8 or so feet from the shore. It was small and threw the hook, but what a start. We fished the lure and a drop shot with a worm...couldn't get them to leave the worms alone. At one point we had three consectutive casts, three consecutive fish, three different species ( LM, SM, Perch). We caught about 18 or so on the morning and were off the lake by 930am. They were all less than 10" but it was fun to get that much action. The water was really warm...high 70's if not 80's. I figured the larger fish were deeper. Would have fished deeper if I had a better raft to work out of. Maybe next time I will bring a float tube. they would be perfect here. Lake is not that big.
The drop shot....what a great technique!
