Got a call from my brother Friday night with an invite to go Fishing Saturday ,Got a 1 day fishing license for Idaho and made plans for 4am. Not a bad drive from spokane to my bro's house then to Hayden , got on the water about 5 am. Slow start to the day, fished some top waters , and i missed 5 consecutive hook ups, i musta been tired.. Fished the top waters untill about 9am , I think i managed 2 fish , my brother caught a few small ones. From 9am-10am we started to try to figure out how to catch the smallies in deeper water , tried some spinners baits and deeper running lures, nothing but a few chases... .. by 11 we were getting frusterated ... finally hooked up some big jig heads with some yamamoto plastics . Started in about 10 feet of water , we got some nibbles, no hook up's , about 11:30 we went a bit deeper, perhaps 15-20 not really sure, we had no depth finder, and Bingo , we were in the fish. From 11:30 - 2:00 it was the biggest rush of fish Ive ever seen, nearly every cast resulted in a bite or hook-up , in that stretch we boated about 20 fish each , none of mine were to big, though they were not small either, all in the 12-15 inch range, my brother had the 2 biggest fish of the day (pictured) .. all in all we caught about 40 smallies and 1 LM . We fished untill the 100 + degree heat got to be to much , fish were still biting . A great day fishing with my brother, it had been 3 years since we had gone, fun times.
All fish were released.
