With the family gone for the evening, I decided on a quick trip back to this lake since it's close and been good to me this year. Was on the water around 5pm and it was still very warm. Didn't get many takes in my usual spots so I headed for the water below the Girl Scout camp since it was shaded and the water a bit cooler. No sooner did I get into the shade when I started getting strikes. Was using a two-fly set-up; a brown tungsten yarn leech above my mini-black yarn leech. Caught fish on both. Action wasn't nearly as good as prior trips so I stowed the fly gear and picked up my ultra-light spin gear and started poking the brush for bass. Picked up numerous six inchers but nothing approaching what I've heard are in there. Still, it's a beautiful, quiet lake. To Mike Carey, just keep trolling S-L-O-W, deep, and hug the shoreline. They're there!
