The south end of Omak continues to produce nicely although they are making us work harder than the first part of June. These Lahontan prefer darting plugs and spoons trolled quickly to give it an erratic movement. They are followers and many times need a change of speed or depth to trigger a bite. This is a special fishery and I encourage the practice of catch and release. We use barbless hooks, try to limit the length of the fight, unhook the fish while in the water, get the camera ready, take the picture and quickly release the fish. These fish were all caught trolling at 2.2-2.4 and all were released. We are now having to watch the fish finder very carefully to find concentrations of fish. When you find the fish arches and adjust your depth accordingly, you'll be rewarded with fish. We caught and released 19 fish in 3.5 hours. It was 102 degrees; be sure and bring lots of drinks and lots of sun block! Good luck!
