"Hey, where did all that water come from?" Thus started my 6am wake up call on Kitsap lake from fishing buddy Bob Johansen. Opps, forgot to put in the boat plug! That's a first for me. Boat properly bailed out, we started fishing the weedy lily pad infested shoreline of Kitsap lake. I had a game plan thanks to reviewing many members fishing reports of late - surface baits for a hot summer morning. Water temp 76 degrees, ambient temp - about the same. I settled on a green weedless frog and began working the pads and weeds. Within 15 minutes I had my first surface explosion, which I missed. That's OK, I figured, just need to get into the groove... a couple minutes later my froggy was engulfed by a 3.5 pound LMB that left no doubt this was BREAKFAST. Great fight, made several jumps. He'll be a star of a future WL.com lake video, LOL. Bob wasn't having much luck with his rapala and eventually switched to a frog as well. At 8:30 as the sun started beating on the water we decided to proceed with plan 2, which was to move to Wildcat lake which Bob figured would not be so weedy. So off to Wildcat we went...
