Needed to rinse the salt off the boat and figured the dog needed some quality time too, so we closed the shop down at noon and headed to Leland. Still got that sign up "don't eat the fish" and saw only one other boat fishing for trout. I dinked along the shorline for a while hit the pads and just could not keep the damn bass off my jig. Hey you LMB guys come up here and do us a favor and get these things outta here,,Please! Caught a couple in the 3# range good fights but I was looking for something else and eventually found some big perch all hanging out in the shade and shallows underneith the overhangs, kept a few of those before throwing the dog in the water. Come to think of it I should have brought those bass home and just buried them in the garden. Well heading out early in the morning for more Crappie. You catch and release guys should pay attention to this lake, since it has been posted for the past 4 years now the fishing has dropped off here and there are some big fish in this lil ole mudpuddle...

Be careful with swimming your dog on lakes that have been posted for toxic algae...especially Leland. I sure would hate to read another newspaper article regarding a dead dog due to toxic algae.

I normally just cut the fins off the trout I catch and feed them to those bass. If the trout is too big I'll just cut it into chunks. The bass Love it when I do that on Leland. I think its good to get rid of those garbage trout and fatten up our #1 game fish the LMB.

I would like to change my statement about trout. They are not garbage , they make great feeder fish for the bass. I love to go fish a lake a week or so before they put in the little planter trout (aka bass food). All the bass will be stacked up near the launch waiting for the feeding frenzy! Makes for some awsome early spring bass fishing.

Don't get me wrong here, as I have an 8.75# bass on the wall that came out of Leland and I agree with you about trout... Only trout I like is Kokanee and smoked with a cold bottle of beer. I was fishing for neither bass or trout... Also thanks for the concern about the Dog, we locals know when the water is toxic.
