Got out a little ealier today under a foggy sky cover. Used a spinnerbait all day and managed to hook a few but lost them before I could get them to the boat. Wife was using a small rubber fish that looked like a baby bass. She casted towards shore and brought it over a weedbed. As it got closer it looked like she had hooked the weeds and was dragging them along but as it came up to the boat we both realized it was about a 35" tiger muskie following the "fish". Just as the lure rose towards to surface the muskie very gently sucked it in and turned to go under the boat at which point it cut the line just like a pair of sissors. She didn't even have a chance to set the hooks.
Now the wife has never been real big on fishing but she caught a SMB about 10 minues later and ended up being the only one to land a fish all day. On the way home she wanted to stop and check the fishing tackle store for lures that would keep the line away from a muskies teeth next time. She even asked if we could go out tomorrow, too bad I have to work.
