First time going to American, and let me tell you this lake is awesome. First of all, the boat ramp is really nice. It is run very efficiantly. Second of all, this lake is very clear. It would be a good lake to sight fish for bass in the spring. Third, rock bass are abundant in this lake. They are in about 10-14 feet of water, in the shallow flat areas of the lake. Altogether we caught about 20, being between 5 and 7 inches. Another plus, eagles are like sparrows at this lake, they are everywhere. Will probably come back soon.
