I headed up to Banks with my Crop adjuster boss man-Clark Sandoz. The day was a beauty too. Fluffy clouds, a cool breeze and just plain pleasant weather. We portaged my John Boat on the eastern side of Osbourne Bay and headed for the Northeast shore to toss plastics for Large mouth bass. Clark was a novice at jig fishing, so I rigged him up with a smoke/Salt and Pepper 3" Kalin's Grub and we methodically combed the cattail edges and boulder slopes for both species of bass. My first fish, a 2.4 lb Largie picked up an Outlaw Baits Mocha pepper tube jig. It was the same story the rest of the morning. I caught a solid 4 lb Largemouth on a Camo colored Booyah baits flippin jig and followed it up with a 3.5 bigmouth on a 5" silver shiner colored Senko worm. Clark struggled for the most part- I think his hi vis yellow line spooked the fish in such clear water. I had him tie in a 6 lb flourocarbon tippit and bam! He immediately 1caught a beautiful 2 lb Smallie on a blue/brown dropshot worm. I ended up picking up 21 bass, 4 big sunfish and a 10" crappie.(all released) Clark was a real sport and seemed content watching me catch fish.I look forward to teaching him to jig fish , just like the way he is teaching me about my job. Bossmen like Clark are cool as hell....As Long as I don't rub it in at the next crop adjuster meeting! The Jigmiester. p.s. Clark convieniently forgot his gigital camera...so hopefully i'll have fish pics next time...lol
